A very good mahogany stick barometer by Baptista Ronchetti of Manchester, marked with his address at no. 15 High Street.

The silvered register plate is protected by an ebony-trimmed glazed door, and boxwood and ebony stringing frame the herringbone veneered trunk. The color is a deep and warm brown.

Baptista Ronchetti was one of the first of his family of instrument makers to settle in England, and was known for the quality and sophistication of his products.
